ARTEMIS


This classical goddess was known as "Artemis" in ancient Greece and "Diana" to the Romans.

Ephesus was the headquarters of all Artemis Worship and the Temple of Artemis (one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World) was in Selcuk.

A virgin goddess of the moon and the hunt. She is recognisable by her bow, arrows and quiver and companion animals, often deers. As a tomboy, she is often shown in short tunics.

She was protector of the innocent and youth and guardian of childbirth. Roman Diana also had a fertility element. She and her twin Apollo were children of Zeus / Jupiter.
